IEEE Spectrum is the flagship publication of the world's largest professional organization for engineers and applied scientists, which means the audience already knows the subject matter cold. The challenge isn't simplifying; it's finding the visual angle that makes even experts see something differently. Fifteen years in, the assignments are still the most thought-provoking work I get. I spend as much time researching each one as I do drawing it.
